A Preface to The Five
I was tagged in a note on Facebook by a friend… “Think of 20 albums that had such a profound effect on you they changed your life or the way you looked at it. They sucked you in and took you over for days, weeks, months, years. These are the albums that you can use to identify time, places, people, emotions. Even if you don’t listen to them much any more, these are the albums that...

Let me preface this post with a few things. First off, there are no guarantees that it will be coherent. I’m writing this in one sweep, so bear with me. Second, I am not claiming to have any mastery of philosohpy, or existentialism. These are the simple thoughts that I had after finising and pondering over the book Nausea, by Sartre. I also recently read Notes from Underground, and the...

Yes, I bought it. Why? It’s very cheap. Hopefully someone is reading this, because at the moment the DNS servers have not updated it seems, so it’s not working as it should… That’s all. Update: Seems working now, excellent.

My disappointment with the stimulus bill… well, go down a few blog entries and you’ll see it. I think David Brooks is on target here.

When perception meets reality.
I go to the local gym nearly the same time every day. Early afternoon is great because the gym is so empty. I generally see the same group of people as well, mostly young men, but the occasional obvious retired person, and some housewives. I see one probably mid to late 30s male almost every day. He usually has a shadow going, wears some scrappy sweats, and tops it all off with a gold stud in his...

A whole lot of rambling.
I considered posting a song, and maybe I will at some point today, but there are many things to rant about first. I wasted some time paying attention to the Grammy Awards last night. Once again, the voters showed how out of touch they are with the general population. The Krauss and Plant project was record and album of the year? I would have been at least somewhat pleased if album of the year had...

It may all be pointless.
Why? We’re all going to die. For some that may be soon, for others it may be decades from now. After having finished reading The Plague by Camus, you walk away with the feeling that many things in your own life are simply not in your hands. Camus clearly meant for the plague not only to be disease, but also represent war as well. To me, it is less important determining what “the...

Awww yeah.
Just got tickets to the Flight of the Conchords show in April. Second row back, section that is left of center. Quite pleased. I saw them in May of 2008 as well, and that was hilarious, so here’s hoping the second time is close to being as funny. The show (seemingly) sold out in two minutes, so if you didn’t get tickets… sorry. Also, it is 50 degrees outside. Feels like...

A lack of conversation.
I know tumblr is supposed to be ultra minimalist. Everyone likes twitter, and thus everyone will like ultra simple blog type sites. With so many of you (my loyal readers) using tumblr, don’t the rest of you find it incredibly annoying that there’s no way to comment? Let’s say you want to respond to this, or let me know that “hey, that song is great!” Well, too bad....

Textual endeavors.
Since the end of university (mid December) I’ve had the time to read quite a bit more. I never read quite as much in college as I did in high school (read for fun that is), so it is a welcome return. I’ve tried to ease myself back into it by sticking to shorter works (e.g. Notes from Underground [happens to be why this is named UNDERGROUND]). Here’s what’s next on my list,...

Here we are.
Ok, so a quick abandoning of Wordpress for tumblr. With my endless break, I will try to keep this going, because I know all of you (all 2 of you?) are so fascinated with what I think, am reading, am listening to, etc… This theme isn’t that bad, although it is pretty empty. More soon.
