It's just another draw bridge, whoop-dee-doo.

When perception meets reality.

I go to the local gym nearly the same time every day. Early afternoon is great because the gym is so empty. I generally see the same group of people as well, mostly young men, but the occasional obvious retired person, and some housewives. I see one probably mid to late 30s male almost every day. He usually has a shadow going, wears some scrappy sweats, and tops it all off with a gold stud in his ear. A quick glance and it looks like he just got out of bed. I’ve never given him much thought, as he simply looks like a burnout to me. When you see people in their workout gear judging them becomes all the more difficult. Even knowing that, I still tend to make assumptions about the people I see quite quickly. I’m sure they make similar assumptions about me. Anyways, as I was leaving the gym I noticed Mr. Gold Stud in the parking lot, coming out of his car. At first, nothing struck me as interesting. Then, as he was walking away, I took a second look at his car. A silver Mercedes CL63 AMG. For those of you who don’t have Mercedes running through your blood like me (it’s a brown person thing), an AMG is Mercedes’ special high end sports engine line. Every AMG engine is hand made in Germany. This guy’s car looked as if he had just bought it. I am not sure how much these cars are selling for in this market, but the list price is about $140,000. So clearly everything I had assumed about this guy based on appearance must be wrong? I mean presumably he’s some millionaire who has enough money to spend his afternoons at the gym. That or he stole the car.
