Parabola by Tool

From time to time I really get into a band or an album I haven’t really been listening to for a while. In this case, it’s Tool. I first listened to Lateralus a lot during the very start of my freshman year in high school. So yes, the album is old, but it’s still good. Now I know, especially compared to the other stuff I’ve been posting, that Tool does not quite have the same… ‘indie cred’ as the other songs/bands. Setting that aside, and the fact that Tool fans are generally stoners/burnouts/morons, I think Lateralus is exceptional. Sit down, and dedicate yourself to listening to it, and you’ll find that it is very easy to get wrapped up into it. I’m not even going to talk about crazy strong structures, or odd time signatures. While that stuff definitely makes it stand out, I think Lateralus’ strength is the concept of the album (lyrically) and the strong atmosphere of each song.
